Applying for studies BBC

The lecture was given by one of the heads of BBC across wales. she had studied law and accidently got a job on the welsh language channel. This allowed her to then join the BBC in administritive work doing HR trainging. She soon elaborated on the untraditional way in which she got her job in the BBC and how unintentional it was, but becausee she was flexible and prepared to do anything she moved up to her current status.
She then proceeded to go over the schemes the BBC have in place to get young people work. Now she explained the BBC provide 20000 jobs mainly uk, but also all Around the world so the potential to get something is good. There are jobs for TV, Radio and Online content as well as all the backing fields. One of the schemes set in place is the production scheme and talent pool, she expanded on this by saying it doesnt have to be for a specific subject but they do have to be passionate.
she then provided us with bbc .co . uk which is a good work experience site, with  lots of places listed on the website although alot of work has moved to Salford.

Next it was her personal advice on interviews and getting the job. She started by discussing the interview process and that they ask for evidence for a time were an original idea was turned into something real. she would also be looking for why you measure up for the specific role and spoke of the real importance in ensuring you stand out from all the other CV's

Review

Although i am almost certain that i would not be looking for a job in the BBC, I still found the information given in this lecture useful and interesting if i ever decided that i would. There was also many tips about work schemes, how they work and how you should present yourself in prepararion for getting a job. Overall it was very informative and anyone interested in jobs with the bbc would have found this extremely useful. What i felt helped this was the lecturers clear concise way of putting all the information and her down to earth attitude, which made all the information she was telling you make sense. I never previously knew how many schemes were out there to give work provided by the BBC, there are many worldwide possibilities. But for me it wasnt as useful although it is a great start for anyone considering any type of work in the BBC. I will keep this information for if i ever changed my mind.

Research

After checking myself researching into BBC found an abudance of schemes particularly in the north with traineeships for north jobs being offered on there website.

The site also offers work experience.

The main site for finding out about schemes is the bbc extended website, it offers a variety of schemes for production, sport news writers and also allows disabled people to get a bbc work placement. The site answers need to know questions on all its schemes and is very informative on eligibility.
